WAHA Clinical Review

Updated: Feb 11
This Review was written by Mr. Michel Bilodeau and was published on January 23, 2018. It was posted on the Ontario Ministry of Health's website at the time of its publication and remained there for several years.
In February 2024, I wrote a blog titled 'Fooling the Big Chief.' In it I outlined in detail that the Review was a cut-and-paste exercise of old news that was well established knowledge throughout the Territory's communities, as well as the medical establishment and both the provincial and federal governments. So old news now presented to the Grand Chief and his Council as 'new' news.
But there was more, the three lines of deceit found in the Main Findings. Bottom line of these lines is;
1. Lay people are not qualified or trained to assess the competence of any member of the WAHA Medical Staff. This can only be achieved through peer assessors designated by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (see my Blog titled 'How doctors are really assessed.'
That the presence of monitoring for quality of care and patient safety measures are in place on paper does not mean they are actually put into practice at the WAHA and I cited several examples such as stacks of Medication Error Reporting Forms left unattended by the Head Nurse of the hospital wards, patients discharged with no Discharge Notes of any kind, hundreds of unseen Specialty Reports lost in the hospital's electronic medical record, grossly inaccurate Medication Lists on the patients' records et cetera.
Ignoring my giant red flags of warning of physician misconduct is the antithesis of 'not finding any areas of concern'.
'Fooling the Big Chief' was read by several hundred People and it generated a grass roots sentiment of protest. Shortly after this, the Review was taken off of the Ministry of Health's website. I, as well as others, have made repeated efforts to determine why a public document is no longer available to the public. To date, there has been no replies.
Anyway, the WAHA Clinical Review for the permanent record. Please note page 10 is missing but it will be posted once I recover from today's surgery.
